Recently we restored a group of photographs for a customer whose father had been a keen amateur boxer in his youth. The images had faded and deteriorated over the years, but once restored they revealed moments from when he was just 19 years old.
When the finished prints arrived, she gave them to him as a surprise.
His reaction said everything.
She later sent us a photograph of him holding the framed prints – the same person, 70 years later.
Seeing the photograph of a boxing match, he immediately recognised it and laughed: he remembered the fight and proudly declared that he’d won it.
